OTTAWA, September 25, 2012–STACS DNA Inc., the only DNA sample processing software provider, is pleased to announce that Heather MacIntosh has joined the company as Vice President of Marketing.  In this role, Ms. MacIntosh will oversee all facets of the company’s marketing efforts, including corporate and product marketing, market research and analysis and corporate communications.

The company, which created the DNA sample processing informatics space, boasts a who’s who of clients in forensics DNA laboratories in North America.  Ms. MacIntosh’s role is to raise the company’s profile and drive expansion into new markets, both internationally and in new industries.

Ms. MacIntosh has more than 20 years’ experience leading marketing and communications for software and telecom companies.  She has played a key role in launching and commercializing several startups, as well as creating new opportunities for multi-nationals.  Previously Vice President of Global Marketing at Xandros, an open source software provider, she was also Senior Director of Corporate Marketing at Cloakware, a software security provider, from its pre-commercial days through tremendous growth and its acquisition by Irdeto.  Before that, she was Director of Product Marketing at Simware, where she contributed to the company’s acquisition by and integration with NetManage.  Ms. MacIntosh also spent nine years working at three satellite communications companies, including launching a mobile satellite service for the trucking industry.

“I am delighted to join a team that has a stellar track record serving its customers combined with a bright future,” says Ms. MacIntosh. “The company has such a great story to tell. It’s well positioned to address DNA labs’ requirements in new markets and I am excited to participate in its evolution.”

STACS DNA enables forensics and life sciences laboratories to significantly accelerate their DNA sample throughput, allowing them to more effectively contribute to community safety and personalized medicine.  STACS software works with a lab’s existing workflows–their LIMS, instruments and workloads–to blast through backlogs, increase lab integrity and decrease costs.  For more than a decade, STACS DNA has worked with database and casework labs of all sizes.  The company is based in Fairfax, VA and Ottawa, ON.  For more information, visit www.stacsdna.com.
