STACS Pilot Program Lets Forensic DNA Labs Test Drive the Best Sample Tracking Software

April 02, 2019

Casework and database labs receive full services and support to fully evaluate STACS in the lab

OTTAWA, ON—STACS DNA today announced the STACS Pilot Program which enables forensics agencies to test STACS sample tracking and lab management software in their own DNA laboratories for 60 days with a full suite of supporting services. In use by forensic DNA laboratories across the United States and Canada, STACS replaces log books and spreadsheets to track all lab activities and automate lab functions to help staff save time, improve data quality and mitigate risk.

“Forensic labs, which all talk to each other, know that STACS software is an efficiency game-changer,” said Jocelyn Tremblay, President and COO of STACS DNA. “But labs that are strapped for time and IT resources may be reluctant to commit to such an infrastructure upgrade. The STACS Pilot Program lets them try out the software with the support of our experts, so that they can experience the results for themselves.”

The STACS Pilot Program includes:

• STACS software preconfigured to the lab’s standard operating procedures
• Three days of on-site training
• Scheduled check-in webinars
• Full end user support via telephone, email or support portal

By participating in the Pilot Program, labs can test STACS capabilities in their own lab, ensure that STACS is a good fit, and gain the justification needed to seek approval and funding. There is a nominal fee to cover our expert’s travel; at the end of the pilot period, this is applied to the license fee if the lab decides to license STACS within two years of completing the pilot.

STACS-CW is used by casework labs to process DNA evidence. STACS-DB is used by state DNA database labs that process offender samples. Both products are highly integrated – with CODIS to perform profile matching, with other external systems such as a LIMS, with lab instrumentation, and with other products from STACS DNA – for seamless workflow across a lab, region or state.

STACS DNA delivers sample tracking systems to meet transparency, performance and regulatory expectations. Track-Kit™ tracks samples from collection to storage, preventing delayed or lost kits, and is the leading statewide sexual assault kit tracking system in the U.S. STACS® is the hub of automated DNA labs, providing an audit trail of all lab activity to maximize case throughput and minimize risk and errors. Our customers are federal, state, regional and local agencies, including many of the largest forensics DNA labs in North America.
