The department works 24-hours a day to make California a better place to live, work and raise a family. The department operates statewide with major offices in Sacramento, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Oakland, San Diego and Fresno. A variety of law enforcement operations are located in other cities, such as crime laboratories in Redding, Berkeley, Stockton and Riverside. The Bureau of Forensic Services (BFS) is the scientific arm of the Attorney General's Office whose mission is to assist the criminal justice system. Forensic scientists collect, analyze, and compare physical evidence from crime scenes or persons. They also provide criminalistics, blood alcohol, and related forensic science information services to state and local law enforcement agencies, district attorneys, and the courts. BFS also offers specialized forensic science training to personnel who are practitioners in the field of forensic science through the California Criminalistics Institute (CCI).
www.ag.ca.gov

Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI)
The Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) was created in 1967. It has the authority and responsibility to investigate specific crimes assigned to it. The FBI also is authorized to provide other law enforcement agencies with cooperative services, such as fingerprint identification, laboratory examinations, and police training. The mission of the FBI is to uphold the law through the investigation of violations of federal criminal law; to protect the United States from foreign intelligence and terrorist activities; to provide leadership and law enforcement assistance to federal, state, local, and international agencies; and to perform these responsibilities in a manner that is responsive to the needs of the public and is faithful to the Constitution of the United States. The FBI is headquartered in Washington D.C. The offices and divisions at FBI Headquarters provide program direction and support to 56 field offices, approximately 400 satellite offices known as resident agencies, four specialized field installations, and over 45 foreign liaison posts known as Legal Attaches. More than 20 Regional and Field Offices are located from Pensacola to Key West. Hundreds of Special Agents and Criminal Intelligence Analysts assist the state's criminal justice community, including 67 Sheriffs and more than 300 Chiefs of Police. Available services include: identifying and investigating organized and multi-jurisdictional crimes; apprehending criminals and fugitives; gathering and sharing criminal intelligence; investigating public corruption; seizing illegally gained assets; dismantling criminal organizations; aiding in the locating of missing children; and providing protective services to Florida's Governor and other dignitaries. In addition, forensic experts provide technical support through FDLE's Statewide Crime Laboratory System. Seven crime laboratories throughout the state enable FDLE to provide timely, expert, and professional examination of evidentiary materials and courtroom testimony. The Laboratory System utilizes state of the art equipment and scientific techniques. The Florida Crime Laboratory System houses the statewide DNA database, which has provided key evidentiary links in a number of previously unsolved murder and sexual battery cases.
STaCS"! was originally deployed at FDLE in July 2001.
www.fdle.state.fl.us

Illinois State Police (ISP)
The Illinois State Police was officially created in 1922 and today, comprised of sworn personnel and civilians totaling more than 3,000, is one of the most modern and efficient police organizations in the country. ISP s mission is to promote public safety to improve the quality of life in Illinois. The vision of ISP is to strive for excellence in all they do, - seeking to be one of the premier policing agencies in the country. ISP s values include Integrity trust and dependability to act responsibly; Service, - contribute to the welfare of others; and Pride, - respect for self, others and the organization. Their goals include the desire to improve the quality of life for their citizens through unimpeachable integrity, public service, training and education, and to safeguard the public by assisting law enforcement, decreasing traffic fatalities and injuries, and reducing crime and the fear of crime. Over the years, the ISP has continually changed in size and organizational structure to provide an increased number of services in the most efficient manner to the people of Illinois.

These services are implemented by the Office of the Director through the Divisions of Operations, Forensic Services, and Internal Investigation and Administration. The Illinois State Police Division of Forensic Services oversees the third largest system of crime laboratories in the world. Nine forensic laboratories provide forensic services to all of the approximately 1,000 law enforcement agencies in Illinois and work about 400 cases a year for federal agencies. The laboratories in ISP s system, accredited by the American Society of crime Laboratory Director s Laboratory Accreditation Board are located in Carbondale, Chicago, Joliet, Morton, Rockford, Springfield, Westchester, and the Metro-East (Fairview Heights) area. Daily crime laboratory work takes place to establish the scientific truth about evidence for court. Most ISP forensic science work involves laboratory/bench work analysis. Forensic scientists in the ISP respond to crime scenes infrequently. Rather, daily, the ISP s forensic scientists 1) think across multiple disciplines (using chemistry, biology, physics and anatomy), 2) make clear bench notes about work, as these may be introduced as evidence in court, and 3) communicate well with one another so they will be able to testify clearly and withstand challenge in court. In addition, forensic scientists regularly train law enforcement personnel in the proper recognition, collection and preservation of crime scene evidence.
The Illinois State Police is headquartered in Springfield, Illinois.
http://www.isp.state.il.us/

Miami Valley Regional Crime Laboratory (MVRCL)
The Miami Valley Regional Crime Laboratory (MVRCL) was established in 1969 to provide scientific expertise to 20 law enforcement agencies.
